Social media has been able to provide and promote international relationships and a multitude of communication channels, social media today significantly influences every part of our daily life. LinkedIn which is a popular social media platform, is primarily a professional networking site where users may connect with employers or other business contacts and advertise their professional skills and abilities. It serves as a virtual job search tool/resume with an emphasis on networking professionally and advancing one's career. Many users consider it to be a resource for professional development and job searches because of its focus on creating a reputable web profile. I personally didn't fully understand what LinkedIn was, but after reading over the facts and taking in research of what it is, I have understood it a bit more clear.
Not all social media platforms should be treated or used in the same way!

I was also ignorant of how useful LinkIn could be in our professional lives. Not only does it allow employers to see our profile, it also helps you connect with people in the same job field. Those people can even help write you letters of recommendations to employers, even strangers!

Before this class, I had used LinkedIn to get my current job, but I was unaware that this is now essential for anyone looking to have a presence in the professional world. Not only should we always be up to date with our profile and resume, but we should be tapped in as well. You never know what could happen. It is always best to stay prepared for any situation for our own security.
